In this latest episode of our knitting web video series/podcast we chat with sisters Laurel Emery and Diane Provenzano the NY based designers, knitters and knitting kit sales team for Style Hounds.

They tell us about how the idea for knitting sweaters for dogs turned into a new business for these Soho, Manhattan based sisters.

What’s on the set:

What I am wearing:

  • During the interview: Ishbel shawlette by Ysolda knitted with Tili Thomas Beaded Plie American Beauty
  • In the chair: Big Shrug, designed by CAT knitted in Cuozo (no longer available)

Very cute dog sweaters. But all I can think about is == how delicate are they and do they require hand washing? I imagine so, being alpaca? I just can’t imagine having to hand wash dog clothing, lol….

OMG, what a great story. I love the sisters and thought it was funny that the one sister hadn’t even thought of helping with the knitting. That’s the way it would happen with my sister. I have made many dog sweaters and think it’s genius for them to put them into kits. Some friends of ours that raise angora rabbits even knit angora sweaters for their dogs. Since you don’t have to wash them daily like human clothes it’s not a big deal to hand wash and let them air dry. Thanks for the great episode!

I have so enjoyed your show. The Style Hounds interview was a great inspiration. I know you had a show on machine knitting, so when I got one I had to go re watch it. Thank you so much for producing.
